Sorry it's been all baby all the time around here. I swear I have other stuff I want to talk about, like bitching about work (argh! work! why you gotta be like that) and also I just read A Stranger in Olondria ,and also the Midnight Riot/Rivers of London series which I have some Thoughts about. (Specifically, 1) How are you so good? and 2) Are you fucking kidding me with your fridge logic?) But I don't have time to do that before I pass out right now. So, a Junebug anecdote:
I have been saying "One, two, three, go!" to him. And we also do counting down to consequences, for example "I need to see you put something in your mouth before I count to five or you're all done with dinner. One, two, three, four, five. Okay, you're all done. Time for wiping." (Because otherwise he will happily play with his remaining food indefinitely and with increasing destructiveness. And the counting down thing has become massively helpful. We'll count down to, for example, putting down a toy so we can leave daycare at the end of the day. He seems to understand that he has a short defined time period in which to choose to make something happen, otherwise it will happen anyway and he will not be in control of it. Very frequently once I start counting he will choose to do the thing.) So he understands about counting. And today he was counting down to "Go!" and then running.
However, when the Junebug counts it sounds like this. Perfectly clearly and understandably: "Two, five, red, one, blue, GO!"
