The thing is, I can sympathize with part of what Jo is saying. I often do feel a genuine sense of grief, loss, and (yes) rejection when an awesome female-appearing person comes out as trans or genderqueer. But those feelings are *my problem* to deal with. It's not fair for me to make them somebody else's problem, and I really try not to. (In service of which, I will drop the subject now.)
