I was biking home yesterday when it occurred to me that I know two professional poker players. Professional gamblers, if you will. And neither of them particularly seems to be on his way to dying in the back of a boxcar after begging whiskey off of a stranger.

Maybe you should be counting your money when you're sitting at the table, is what I'm saying.

Thank you for the PSA! That song has always annoyed me. Maintaining an accurate count of your money when you're sittin' at the table is crucial in all forms of poker. (However, I can't much argue with the importance of knowing when to hold, fold, walk, or run.)

Yeah...he gave no advice about learning how to know when to hold, fold, walk, or run, though! I guess the message there is just that there is knowledge that you have to have - luck is not enough? Maybe that's useful to absolute beginners.
