I do think it's good to tell the kids that! Now, to try and believe it. Or at least, you know, to let go of it for the time it takes to get some goddamn sleep, because there are a lot of problems in the world but lying in bed stressing about them does sweet fuck all to help.
I don't get that often, but I have started occasionally calling a certain amount of anxiety bluff. YOU WANNA FREAK OUT ABOUT LOSING THE APARTMENT AND IT'S 4AM? WHY DON'T WE START A LITTLE OF THAT EXTRA CLEANING THEN. It's amazing how quickly my body goes "welp let's sleep then..."
The kids do not have anxiety! It's a good thing. Good and appropriate hypocrisy.
Adult treatment for similar problem is less Rational Reassurance and more, like, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and maybe pills? (Huge piles of money also help, but those are less accessible.)
Yeah, those are good. I find that cuddles are also good. The scared animal part of my brain wants another animal there for company, not Rational Reassurance.
I dunno. Kids don't/can't learn everything at once. As a former child I'm glad I had a childhood that permitted me to develop resilience skills and grow a capacity for understanding and the ability for self care before having to become aware of all the bad things.

We are like the Hulk in the Avengers.
"That's my secret. I'm always tired"
So going to sleep for me is mostly a matter of counting up from one. Usually I get to 30. NOT ALWAYS.

Doesn't always work either, but it's one tactic.
