I get what you're saying, and medicine is definitely picking up shells next to the vast ocean of its ignorance, but... your wife got her cancer taken out by radiation. I mean, that is amazing. Highly imperfect, but still, holy shit. E's mom died of cancer. The Junebug was asking about it the other night. We explained that cancer is an awful disease...and that she beat it twice. It came back a third time, but medicine gave her a number of extra years. She got to see our wedding. She had a lot more time with her kids. I can't agree that we don't know shit. There is a lot we don't know, and hopefully in twenty years we'll be embarrassed by our ignorance as of 2015, but...we are doing a lot better than cowshit mixed with honey.
