Conversing with the toddler makes me feel like an Infocom game.

You can't go to the gas station. It's too late. Also, it's raining.

It's still raining.

> It stop raining.

You can't stop it raining that way.

> Tooth

You have a tooth. You have many teeth.

I don't know what you want to do with your tooth.

Also I had recently posted a post along similar Infocom lines except from the parental perspective. (I hadn't noticed until this post how much it's like that for the kid too, though! But it is.)

I'm pretty sure it's a fundamental aspect of how the world works around small toddlers, bound to be oft-reinvented. And because it is so true, it remains entertaining.
