junebug sayings

2 quick things:

My current very favorite thing the baby says is when he goes "GOO. GOO." very determinedly and clearly, as though he knows that babies are supposed to say "goo" and he wants to be absolutely sure that we know he is fulfilling that part of his baby duties.

He can now sign "milk". !!!

When our daughter first learned that sign, she would sign it to me every single time I walked into a room. And I thought "Jeez, she's really hungry these days," and whip out a boob. But after a few days of doing this and her not being all that hungry, I realized: wait, she's not hungry, and she's all smiley and happy when she signs it... she's using MILK as a greeting! And, wait, she only signs it when *I* come in, not when Andy comes in... oh crap, SHE THINKS MY NAME IS MILK.

Did I feel reduced to a basic biological process? Oh yes. But we laughed about it for weeks.

Ten years later, it's still a family joke: "Hey, here comes ol' Milk!"
