brave

I know I tweeted this already, but these are the best thoughts yet on Brave.

On another note, though, that witch? She wasn't actually a witch, right, she just knew how to do bears? I mean, strength of ten men = bear! Change my mom = bear! Someday someone's gonna show up to her cottage looking for something to help win a chili cookoff, and is going to go home with a spell to turn the judges into bears. "What? Bears love chili!"

Also, that was totally Ancient Scottish Burning Man she fucked off to, right? I wonder if all the [spoilers] in Ancient Scotland who didn't go celebrated the annual Festival of Parking And Being Able To Get Into Restaurants like we do around here.

I thought she was supposed to be one of those people who is convinced their monomania is the right answer to all problems. That dovetails nicely with your theory, though -- if bears are the answer to everything, why bother to learn any other spell? It would be a waste. I mean, bears!

The complaint department is also a bear, so there have been very few complaints.

That is a truly awesome article. Do you mind if I repost?

I loved the witch! She cracked me up, and yes, yes she would totally send that kind of help, lol forever at "Bears love chili!" And, that is exactly what I got out of that Wickerman Festival reference - "oh, she's going to Burning Man, clever!"

That review is AWESOME, though, thanks so much for linking. It almost makes me want to go see the movie again (and that would make it the only movie I've ever seen in theatres three times!).

Oh my god, the first time I ever visited SF was during the Festival of Parking And Being Able To Get Into Restaurants. It was accidentally awesome, and several waitpeople complimented us on our timing.

Yes to Burning Man! Also, awesome article, and now I am rethinking my "sad Pixar's first female protag was a princess" stance. Also, neener neener to all the reviewers who brushed it off as a princess movie.

Thank you for that link; that's a great review.
