three month notes
* I hate nights. I hate them. Each night lasts approximately 75 years and when the kid wakes up all bright and full of beans in the morning I am several generations older and yet somehow more tired than I was when I went to bed. I realize the solution to this is probably to go to bed earlier and yet when each night is decades' worth of tossing and turning and tedium it is extremely hard to make myself give up an even greater proportion of my precious time to it. Mr. E has been great about taking him in the morning so I can get another hour of sleep but still.
* The kid has a Sophie giraffe. This giraffe is basically the physical manifestation of my insecurities as a parent. He's still too young for toys, and we have a big ol' bin of toys that are just waiting for him to be old enough to be interested in them. More toys = not needed. And yet, when I take him to mom-baby yoga, at least half of the babies are playing with that damn giraffe. And somewhere in my brain I'm like, I guess this is a thing you have to have for your kid around here? Maybe he needs one? DDD:
* He does grasp it, though. HE GRASPS THE GIRAFFE. It is hard to overstate the level of excitement about that around these parts. This is a new development this week, where sometimes if we put the giraffe or this round teething rattle on his chest he will actually grasp it with his hands and put it in his mouth OMGWTFBBQ. \o/
* ALL THE SMILES OMG THE TINY BABY SMILES HOW DID WE MAKE A CHILD THIS HAPPY/ADORABLE/WONDERFUL/I HAVE ALL THE FEELINGS IN THE WORLD.
