I've also been musing on that post, and it has occurred to me that I am one of those lucky people who has got enough time to manage adultery in Hampstead, or my case, an Affair in Leafy Warwickshire. I'm a freelancer, I work from home, and at the moment I am not exactly rushed off my feet, or coping with high pressure deadlines. I could totally fit an affair into my schedule.
Many writers are also freelancers who work from home, and I think some of them may lose track of what a "real" job is like, or forget how little time you have when you commute two-three hours a day and all the housework, food shopping & socialising has to be fitted into the weekends.
I also boggle at your dad. But I'm guessing that he wasn't doing the shopping, cooking & child-care??
